 Isaiah Hyman, Google Local Guide:

"Best sushi in Raleigh! The restaurant had a very nice ambiance and our waiter, Tristan was very friendly and professional. We went for just the sushi AYCE option and did not do the Hot Pot. Dinner for two with AYCE apps, sushi and desserts were reasonably priced and the menu had so many options to choose from. We definitely got our bang for our buck. The specialty rolls and the chef rolls that we tried were all fantastic! We will definitely be eating here frequently when in the area and in the mood for good sushi."

"What a great surprise! After some travel chaos, I had to drive to RDU to catch a new flight, and I decided to grab some sushi for lunch first. The Yelp reviews were spot on- this place was super clean, the staff were all really friendly (my waitress, Susan, was really sweet), and the food was awesome!!! I had a mix of rolls, apps, and sushi, all of which were fresh and delicious. The dragon roll was big and not completely filled with just rice. The Harbor Bridge Roll was truly delightful. The sushi was really wonderful too. Everything came out pretty quickly- I arrived just as the restaurant was opening, and it took maybe 10 minutes to get my food. There is also a little bar with toppings and sauces, but honestly there was no need to add anything but some soy sauce to the sushi. I was so pleased and can't wait to return!"

"If you're looking for a place where your cravings for sushi and hot pot collide in the best way possible, Umiya is a must-visit. This all-you-can-eat gem offers an impressive and diverse selection that truly stands out.
Let’s start with the sushi: the menu is stacked with a wide variety of rolls, from classic favorites to more adventurous options. One important note, these aren’t scaled-down AYCE versions. The sushi rolls are full-sized, just like you'd expect from a regular order, so be mindful not to overdo it too quickly. The quality and freshness are on point, and it’s clear they don’t cut corners.
As for the hot pot, Umiya knocks it out of the park. The selection is massive! Noodles, meats, seafood, veggies, broths; you name it, they’ve got it. Whether you're a fan of spicy broths or something more traditional, there’s something for every palate. The ingredients come out fast and fresh, which makes the whole experience even more enjoyable.
The service was prompt and efficient, orders arrived at the table almost as soon as we placed them, which is a huge plus when you're hungry and ready to dig in.
All in all, Umiya offers great value, generous portions, and a satisfying experience from start to finish. Just pace yourself, it’s easy to get carried away with so many tasty options!"

"If you're looking for a delightful sushi and hotpot experience, Umiya is definitely worth a visit. For an extra $5, you can access an impressive selection of sushi rolls, sashimi, hibachi, and appetizers, which really elevates the dining experience.
We tried the Szechuan Spicy broth and the pork bone broth for our hotpot, and both were packed with flavor; bold, rich, and satisfying. The variety of seafood available as hotpot toppings was also impressive, catering to all seafood lovers.
The restaurant's decor and ambiance were modern and inviting, creating a pleasant atmosphere to enjoy your meal. The staff were friendly and attentive, adding to the overall positive experience. If you're a fan of hotpot and sushi, Umiya is a must-try spot!"

"Great food! Great experience! Great staff. Very pleased! Our waitress offered suggestions for us and they were really good! Definitely a different but better ayce experience. We only got the sushi side, I walked through the hot pot area as I left and was impressed. We went to another hot pot place in the area for our first time ever and we said never again. We might be back here to try the hot pot experience again. But very happy with the other side!"

 Joey N., Yelp Elite:

"Came here with several friends and we opted for just the AYCE Sushi. I would say get here a bit early and expect a decent wait for a larger party. First off, restaurant is very spacious and had a lovely ambiance. Staff were friendly and offered their recommendations across the large menu.

As for food, we went off with a bang. Ordered around 120 pieces of sashimi/nigiri of salmon, tuna, eel, shrimp, yellow tail, and escolar. Very good quality fish, and I would say the winners from our huge platter would be the escolar and salmon. They were both so juicy and tender. The rolls would be something I would order if you want to try them, but they were a bit average at most (repetition of crab, shrimp, or tuna, but organized differently). 100% get the oysters from their appetizers; that was a banger.

As for the dessert, get the fried oreos and bananas. Those two are bomb. Great way to finish off your AYCE experience. If you also want to satisfy your sweet tooth, the cheesecake is a nice touch as well!

Overall, recommend going for the AYCE sushi experience! Lots to choose from and delicious!"
